Policy Scope

Purpose of this Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy applies to all websites, stores, files, email services, hosting accounts, add-ons and related services provided by WP Performance Hosting.

Customers are responsible for all content, activity, scripts, applications, users, contractors and third-party integrations connected to their hosting account, website or service.

By using our services, customers agree not to use WP Performance Hosting for any activity that is illegal, abusive, harmful, deceptive, high-risk, resource-intensive or inconsistent with this policy.

Prohibited Content

Content we do not allow

Customers must not use WP Performance Hosting services to host, publish, promote, sell, distribute or link to content, products or services that are illegal, abusive, deceptive, harmful or high-risk.

Prohibited content includes adult or explicit content, pornography, sexual services, escort services, sexually exploitative content, weapons, drugs, counterfeit goods, illegal products, gambling services, unlawful financial schemes and content that promotes criminal activity.

We also do not allow websites that promote hate, harassment, threats, violence, exploitation, abuse, doxxing, privacy violations or content that targets individuals or groups in a harmful or unlawful way.

Legitimate finance, investment, cryptocurrency or similar websites may be considered only where they are lawful, compliant, transparent and not misleading. Scams, illegal activity, deceptive claims, misleading financial schemes and high-risk abuse are not allowed.

If we believe a website, store, product, service or activity creates legal, payment, infrastructure, security or reputational risk, we may restrict or suspend the affected service.

Technical Abuse

Prohibited technical activity

Customers must not use our services for technical activity that harms, disrupts, overloads, probes, exploits or interferes with our infrastructure, other customers, third-party systems or the normal operation of the internet.

Prohibited activity includes malware, phishing, spam, malicious redirects, bot activity, brute-force attacks, credential harvesting, unauthorised scanning, unauthorised scraping, denial-of-service activity, vulnerability exploitation and attempts to bypass security controls.

Customers must not use hosting accounts for mass email sending, bulk messaging, unsolicited marketing, automated scraping, crypto mining, proxy services, file-sharing systems, public file storage, video hosting platforms or other activity that creates excessive resource use.

Scripts, plugins, themes, integrations and third-party services must be kept secure and must not be used in a way that creates instability, abuse complaints, blacklisting, server load issues or security risk.

If a website or service causes resource abuse, security alerts, spam reports, blacklist risk, infrastructure instability or third-party complaints, we may restrict, suspend or remove access to the affected service.

Email Use

Email, messaging and spam restrictions

Customers must not use WP Performance Hosting services, email accounts, forms, scripts, plugins or integrations to send spam, unsolicited bulk messages, deceptive messages, phishing emails or unlawful marketing communications.

All email activity must comply with applicable anti-spam, privacy and marketing laws. Customers are responsible for ensuring they have valid permission to contact recipients and that unsubscribe, sender identity and consent requirements are properly followed.

Our services must not be used for mass email sending, purchased email lists, cold bulk outreach, email harvesting, fake sign-ups, mail bombing, spoofing, phishing, malware delivery or activity that causes blacklist risk.

Website forms, WooCommerce emails, newsletter tools and transactional email systems must be configured responsibly. Misconfigured forms, insecure contact forms, abused plugins or compromised mail scripts may be restricted if they create spam or security risk.

If email activity creates abuse reports, blacklist risk, infrastructure risk, deliverability problems or legal risk, we may restrict, suspend or disable the affected service, mailbox, script, website or hosting account.

Fair Usage

Resource use and fair usage limits

WP Performance Hosting services are intended for normal WordPress website and WooCommerce store hosting. Customers must not use hosting accounts in a way that places excessive load on servers, storage, network resources, email systems or shared infrastructure.

Hosting accounts must not be used as general file storage, backup storage, media archives, software repositories, download mirrors, video hosting platforms, public file-sharing systems or high-volume data transfer services.

Customers must not run crypto mining, bots, crawlers, automated scraping tools, proxy services, traffic exchange systems, artificial traffic generation, benchmark scripts or other processes that create abnormal resource use.

Websites should be kept reasonably optimised, updated and secure. Poorly configured plugins, excessive database activity, uncontrolled background tasks, oversized media libraries or inefficient scripts may affect performance and may require corrective action.

If a website or account causes excessive resource use, performance degradation, service instability, abuse complaints or risk to other customers, we may request changes, apply limits, restrict access or suspend the affected service.

Security

Customer security responsibilities

Customers are responsible for keeping their websites, stores, administrator accounts, passwords, plugins, themes, scripts, integrations and third-party access secure.

Customers must use strong passwords, protect administrator access, remove unused accounts, keep contact details current and avoid sharing access with unauthorised users.

Customers are responsible for the activity of employees, contractors, developers, agencies, users or third parties who access their website, hosting account, email service or related systems.

Compromised websites, outdated software, insecure plugins, malicious files, suspicious redirects, spam scripts or unauthorised activity may be restricted or suspended if they create risk to our infrastructure, customers, visitors or third-party networks.

Standard hosting plans do not include WordPress core, plugin or theme update management. Update management and maintenance are available through separate care plans.

Enforcement

Monitoring, investigation and service restriction

We may monitor service usage, abuse reports, security alerts, performance issues, blacklist warnings, payment risk indicators and third-party complaints to protect our customers, infrastructure and service reputation.

If we identify a potential breach of this Acceptable Use Policy, we may investigate the issue and request that the customer corrects the problem within a reasonable timeframe.

Where practical, we may provide notice before taking action. However, immediate restriction, suspension or removal may occur where there is malware, phishing, spam, illegal activity, payment risk, security risk, resource abuse, abuse complaints, infrastructure risk or legal risk.

Actions we may take include limiting access, disabling scripts, suspending email services, suspending a website, blocking traffic, removing harmful files, requiring corrective action or suspending the affected hosting account.

Repeated, serious or unresolved breaches may result in service termination. We are not required to restore service where doing so would create legal, security, abuse, payment, infrastructure or reputational risk.

Corrective Action

Customer response to policy issues

If we contact a customer about a potential policy breach, the customer must respond within the requested timeframe and take reasonable steps to correct the issue.

Corrective action may include removing prohibited content, disabling unsafe plugins or scripts, cleaning malware, securing administrator access, reducing resource use, fixing abused forms, stopping spam activity or providing information needed to assess the issue.

Customers must not attempt to bypass restrictions, recreate suspended services, move prohibited content to another account, hide abusive activity or continue activity that has already been flagged as unacceptable.

Where a website has been compromised, the customer may need to restore from a clean backup, remove malicious files, reset passwords, update affected software and confirm that the issue has been resolved.

Failure to respond, failure to correct the issue or repeated breaches may result in continued restriction, suspension or termination of the affected service.

Data Protection

Backups, data and restoration limits

WP Performance Hosting may include hosting backups as part of selected services, but customers remain responsible for keeping their own independent backups of websites, stores, files, databases, content, orders, customer records and business-critical data.

Backups are intended to support recovery from certain technical issues, but they are not a substitute for customer-managed backup practices, export routines or business continuity planning.

We do not guarantee that any specific backup will be available, complete, current, suitable for restoration or free from the same issue that affected the website or service.

If a service is restricted, suspended or terminated due to policy breach, abuse, illegal activity, payment risk, security risk or infrastructure risk, access to files, databases, backups or restoration tools may also be restricted.

Customers should regularly export and retain copies of important business data outside their hosting account, especially for WooCommerce stores, membership sites, booking systems and websites that collect customer information.

Policy Updates

Changes to this Acceptable Use Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, security requirements, infrastructure, legal obligations, abuse patterns or business operations.

Customers are responsible for reviewing the current version of this policy and ensuring that their website, store, content, users, scripts, plugins, email activity and hosting usage remain compliant.

Continued use of WP Performance Hosting services after this policy is updated means the customer accepts the updated policy.
